Vienna

Vienna is a city of Central Europe located close to the Danube River on the Valley of the Vienna Forests, a low part of the Alps. The capital of Austria, as well as one of its nine federated states (Bundesland Wien). Its official name in German is Wien. With a population of 1.631.082 inhabitants (2005), Vienna is the main cultural and political centre of Austria. The metropolitan area counts 2.165.357 inhabitants and the official language is German.The city has a lot of history and during the XIX century, it was one of the great musical capitals of Europe. Vienna is a huge imperial city, home to numerous monuments, museums, palaces and parks. It is the city of Beethoven (in Pasqualati Haus, among other places), Mozart (in Vienna he composed the weddings for Fígaro), Freud (in this museum the waiting room where Freud saw his patientshas been kept intact), Schubert, Strauss all of them have great historic personalities.
